How to Add and Remove Apps from the Dock on iPhone or iPad

Apple has placed what it thinks are the most useful apps in the dock of the iPad and iPhone, where they are accessible on every Home screen. However, your idea of the most useful apps may be different from Apple's. Here's how to add or remove apps from your dock.

To move an app to or from the dock, tap and hold any app icon to enter "wiggle mode," which allows you to delete or move apps. You'll see a small X on the corners of some of your applications. Tapping the X will delete the app; but that's not what you want to do, so be careful not to touch them by accident.

The iPhone dock can hold a maximum of four apps and the iPad dock can hold up to six, so if you want to move a new one into the dock, you'll have to move one out of it first. This can be done by holding and dragging an app from the dock to your Home screen while in wiggle mode.

Once you decide which apps you want to move into the dock, just drag them to the dock from the home screen. You can place folders in the dock as well.

Once you're finished customizing your dock, press the Home button and the apps will stop wiggling.
